Pastoral Search

Background

Corona Presbyterian Church (CPC), a congregation of the Orthodox Presbyterian Church in the Presbytery of Southern California, seeks a pastor to serve and lead for the glory of Jesus Christ in a new season of ministry. CPC began as a mission work/church plant in 2016 and became a particular congregation in November 2022. Our previous pastor, Rev. Andrew Canavan, served CPC from the church planting stage into these early days as an established church until his recent call to an OPC congregation in Michigan. The Lord has blessed CPC with a love for the gospel of Jesus Christ, a warm and welcoming congregation, and a central meeting place in beautiful suburban South Corona.

Essential Qualities

CPC’s session established the following essentials to guide our pastoral search. Corona Presbyterian Church’s next pastor must be:

  • Ordained or ordainable as a minister in the OPC with a joyful and persuasive commitment to the Scriptures as our primary standards and the Confession of Faith and Catechisms of the OPC as our secondary standards.

  • An example of piety and a catalyst for zealous prayer.

  • Committed to expository preaching that holds forth the gospel of Jesus Christ as the only hope for the lost and the only foundation for the Christian life.

  • Driven to see a young church grow and flourish through zealous evangelism and outreach to our community and through warm fellowship and pastoral care within the church family.

  • Committed to the simplicity of Reformed worship and ministry and able to explain and commend these distinctives to newcomers through warm-hearted worship leadership, teaching, and pastoral interactions.

  • Able to show the love of Christ to a congregation and community of diverse ethnic, socio-economic, and ecclesiological background.

  • A self-starter, willing and able to take initiative and to pioneer new ministry efforts.
